The Capital Quest | African startups SociumJob, Bonbell and Tripesa get venture funding

Senegalese startup SociumJob, which offers a job board for African companies, has scooped up €1 million ($1.1 million) from Breega, Teranga Capital, Kima Ventures, Techmind and Evolem Start besides some angel investors.

SociumJob was founded a year ago by Samba Lo, who has previously worked at Deloitte, Goldman Sachs, Rothschild, Axa and Skeat.

The startup intends to accelerate its growth in French-speaking sub-Saharan Africa. It is currently present in Senegal and Côte d’Ivoire and counts among its clients Orange, Mazars, and EY.

Bonbell

Egyptian food-tech startup Bonbell said Thursday it has secured $350,000 from a Canadian angel investor to boost its platform. The startup is also in talks with two venture capital funds from Europe and the Gulf to close a $10 million seed funding round by the end of the year.

Bonbell specialises in food ordering. It also offers digital services for table and meal reservations. It is targeting to partner 750 restaurants by December.

Tripesa

Ugandan tourism-tech startup Tripesa has secured an undisclosed amount in a pre-seed round of funding from Future Africa, Consonance Investment Managers and LTNT Investments.

The venture started as online travel marketplace RoundBob. It later rebranded and pivoted to build infrastructure and logistics to help companies in the African tourism domain to grow their business.

The firm was founded by David Gonahasa along with Thomas Karugaba and Raymond Byaruhanga.
