Considering that The Big Bang Theory is a show about scientists and friendship, The Cheesecake Factory seems like a strange addition to the show. However, it became one of the main locations for the group’s lunches and dinners since Penny waitressed there. Sheldon is a picky eater but he became fond of The Cheesecake Factory’s burger, so he deemed the restaurant acceptable for weekly eats.
Before Penny left The Cheesecake Factory in the dust, some hilarious conversations and big moments happened inside that dining room. Looking back, this chain of fancy cheesecakes and large menus was much more than a restaurant to Sheldon and co.. It was a place to connect and unwind through the good times and the bad.
10 Saddest: When Sheldon Ignored Amy’s Big News
In “The Shiny Trinket Maneuver,” Amy had big news to share with Sheldon on date night at The Cheesecake Factory. She was going to be published in the Neuron journal and was very proud of herself. Her work could do incredible things in neurobiology and was happy to be recognized.
Sadly, Sheldon didn’t seem to care. He was more interested in reaching 100 followers on Twitter. Amy went to the bathroom upset and Penny had to tell Sheldon where he went wrong.
9 Funniest: When Howard Performed For Bernadette
In “The Vengeance Formulation,” Howard wanted to apologize to Bernadette after proposing on a whim to show how serious he was about their relationship. The only thing that he could think of was to create a scene in The Cheesecake Factory where Bernadette was working.
He decided to perform “Bernadette,” but he changed the lyrics to mirror their relationship. Hearing him sing “Bernadette! I am so sorry for trying to propose to you! Bernadette! You found it creepy but that’s just the kind of thing I do!” was hilarious and it did the trick. Bernadette forgave him!
8 Saddest: When Penny Became Aggressive With Lucy
In one scene, Penny is taking care of the bar at The Cheesecake Factory, serving Amy and Bernadette. As per usual, Penny becomes distracted when she sees Raj’s ex-girlfriend Lucy and decides to approach her.
Things between the two women started out harmless enough but Penny soon becomes irritated by Lucy’s ignorance. She broke Raj’s heart without a reason and didn’t take ownership of her faults. Penny’s aggression was enough to make Lucy ask for a different waitress.
7 Funniest: The Group’s Daydream
In “The Cooper Extraction,” Sheldon is in Texas and the gang hangs back to decorate the apartment for Christmas. While decorating, everyone talks about what their lives would be like without Sheldon in it.
Daydreams were visualized and some moments took place at The Cheesecake Factory. In one scene, Leonard attempts to ask Penny out but she lets him down gently because she had a boyfriend: Stuart.
6 Saddest: Raj’s Friends Denied Him
When Raj is noticed by People magazine for his accomplishments in astrophysics, the fame goes to his head. He acted too cool for his friends and bragged constantly.
Raj invited the group to attend the People event but they denied his invitation. They were so annoyed by his behavior that they couldn’t imagine being with him another second. It was quite sad seeing how much Raj changed and how little his friends cared for his accomplishment.
5 Funniest: The Cheesecake Factory Freezer
Sheldon, Leonard, Raj, and Howard needed to prepare for their trip to the North Pole so that they would know what to expect when their expedition came. They needed a place cool enough to simulate the Arctic weather, which is where The Cheesecake Factory comes into play.
Sheldon begged Penny to allow them to into The Cheesecake Factory’s freezer to practice. She denied his request at first but by the end of the episode, they were all in the restaurant’s freezer.
4 Saddest: When Penny Met Priya For The First Time
In “The Cohabitation Formulation,” Leonard reconnects with Raj’s sister Priya and the two start a relationship. Raj is incensed and felt betrayed by his sister and best friend, but there wasn’t a lot he could do.
Leonard brought Priya with him to The Cheesecake Factory to eat with the rest of the guys but that’s where things got emotional. This scene wasn’t sad as a whole but viewers saw a piece of Penny die when she met the lovely and enchanting Priya. She was stunning, educated, and could keep up with Leonard’s brain. Penny took their order and slowly realized that she messed up.
3 Funniest: Sheldon Got Drunk On “Tea”
When Sheldon got in the middle of an argument between his girlfriend Amy and close friend Wil Wheaton, he was at a loss. He never had to choose a person over another person before. He loved Amy but he also didn’t want Wil viewing him differently — especially after their Fun with Flags episode.
Sheldon wound up at The Cheesecake Factory where he asked for some liquid courage from Penny. In Sheldon’s mind, he thought he was getting iced tea but Penny actually served him Long Island iced tea. Sheldon was wasted in a matter of moments.
2 Saddest: Sheldon Wanted Penny To Apologize
Sheldon doesn’t do well when two people he cares for are in an argument. The negative atmosphere consumes him.
In an attempt to smooth things over between a quarreling Leonard and Penny, Sheldon showed up at The Cheesecake Factory for lunch. While ordering, he told Penny that she was the one who had to apologize to Leonard. This conversation made Penny resent Leonard more and she yelled at Sheldon before leaving. Although it’s a funny scene, it was sad that Sheldon felt so stuck between friends.
1 Funniest: Penny & Beverly Hit The Bar
Leonard and his mother, Dr. Beverly Hofstadter, don’t have the best relationship but when she flew in around the holidays, Penny wanted to make a good impression. She was no longer Leonard’s friend; she was his girlfriend.
To make things less awkward between the two, Penny took Beverly drinking. Beverly wasn’t much of a drinker and got hammered after a few shots. Watching the two ladies talk about Leonard over shots was one for the books.
