After Telekom Slovenije and Iskratel announced their cooperation in the development of hybrid public-private 4G/5G networks to support the growing smart industry in February, the partners have recently set up a 5G test network at Iskratel’s production plant in Kranj.
Headquartered in Kranj, Slovenia, Iskratel is a leading European broadband solutions vendor.
The new 5G test network enables the development of new business models and the testing of smart 5G infrastructure, which enables a number of virtual dedicated networks for individual business verticals, including factories. In addition to testing the network capacity, the Institute for Non-Ionizing Radiation, as an independent and accredited institution, also performed measurements of electromagnetic radiation from the operation of the 5G base station in Iskratel’s production facilities. Measurements were performed at the maximum load of base station traffic, with four test terminals that simultaneously performed a data rate test at the time of the measurement.
The results of the measurements show that the radiation exposure at all measuring points is far below the warning values set by the Regulation on the protection of workers from the risks related to exposure to electromagnetic radiation and the values set by Council Recommendation 1999/519 / EC on limiting the exposure of the general public to electromagnetic fields.
