Taiwan-based ITC supply chain makers, including those producing electronic and electrical components, optoelectronic devices and semiconductors, look to business opportunities arising from fast growing global demand for electric vehicles (EVs), according to industry sources.
Global EV sales will reach 1.7 million units in 2020, three million in 2021, and 5.4 million in 2023, the sources cited market researchers’ forecast as indicating.
These Taiwan-based makers have found it difficult to enter the supply chains for traditional automobile makers, but they now stand a good chance, as more and more advanced electronic/electrical components, optoelectronic devices and semiconductors are used in EVs than in traditional fuel cars, the sources said.
Delta Electronics and Bizlink Holding have become suppliers of EV-use components for Tesla, and are competing for orders from other EV vendors, the sources noted.
