Swire Shipping appoints new managing director

SWIRE Shipping has announced a change in leadership, having appointed Jeremy Sutton as managing director.

Mr Sutton is currently chief operating officer. He will take over from James Woodrow, who had been managing director since 2015, prior to the company’s rebranding.

Mr Woodrow is relocating to the United Kingdom to serve as managing director of tea company James Finlay, which is also a Swire company.

Mr Sutton said he was honoured to take the helm during the year of Swire Shipping’s 150th anniversary.

“With very supportive shareholders and a great leadership team, we intend to continue to focus on growing Swire Shipping’s three core operating businesses of liner, projects and landside, while maintaining an absolute focus on safety,” he said.

Chris Daniells has been appointed managing director of Swire Projects, an operating business of Swire Shipping which provides specialist shipping services to the energy, resources and infrastructure sector.

Mr Daniells will also retain his current portfolio as Swire Shipping’s chief commercial officer.
