Because of supply chain issues, the Lincoln Trail Home Builders Association Parade of Homes will be canceled for this year.
Val Claycomb, president of the LTHBA, said builders have had problems getting supplies for homes and shortages of a variety of building supplies such as concrete and transformers for underground utilities.
“It’s very hard for builders to know if they can get enough supplies to finish the houses,” she said.
Builders are having these problems nationwide and it’s about logistics in getting supplies where they need to be, she said.
The parade often is held in August or September and the plan was to have it in October this year, Claycomb said. But builders were not sure if they’d have a house that would be ready for the parade because of the supply chain issues.
Hopes are to have a parade next year, usually builders will commit to having a house in the parade the first of the year, she said.
“Bear with us and we hope to come back bigger and better next year,” Claycomb said.
The advantage to purchasing a home featured in the parade is a percentage off or extra amenities in the house, Claycomb said.
“It’s kind of like making the house over the top,” she said.
Having a home in the parade is good for builders and vendors to get exposure and marketing, and it gives those selling a home more traffic in the home, Claycomb said.
“We would love to have the parade, we just don’t have anyone with a home to tour this year,” she said.
Claycomb is hoping supply chain issues will be resolved soon, but it seems like every day she hears about a new shortage.
“We’re still here and we still want to offer the best that we can, and we’re sorry we couldn’t have the parade this year,” she said.
