Supply chain issues could cause delay to launch of new 13-inch MacBook Pro

With Apple’s highly-anticipated WWDC event scheduled to take place in a couple of hours time, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman is out with a report in Sunday’s Power On newsletter surrounding a new, faster 13-inch MacBook Pro which reportedly had been scheduled to be announced alongside Apple’s long-rumored “M2” MacBook Air.

Like the launch of the new MacBook Air, which Gurman said over the weekend could be postponed if earlier factory closedowns in China created a large enough supply and release date gap that the release would be hindered and “wouldn’t make sense” to happen at WWDC, the rumored new 13-inch MacBook Pro could also suffer the same fate – with the announcement pushed back because of the earlier supply chain disruption.

“A faster 13-inch MacBook Pro had also been planned to launch around the same time as the new Air, but those same lockdowns in China could have thrown off that part of the road map as well,” writes Gurman. “When that machine does launch, expect it to look the same as the current 13-inch MacBook Pro from 2020 sans the Touch Bar.”
