Northwoods –
The ice on lakes across northcentral Wisconsin are getting thicker with each cool day, which is driving more people to go ice fishing. But as more people begin to hit the ice, they are realizing that finding supplies for the season could be challenging.
Stores are running low on supplies due to the supply chain shortages seen across the country.
“Soft plastics are hard to get no matter summer or winter,” said Gary Mangerson, owner of The Fishing Hole in Rhinelander. “A lot of the stuff will mingle back and forth and it’s all across the board that you are not receiving your supplies.”
Mangerson puts in orders every week or two, but he only receives 30 percent to 40 percent on most orders.
“It’s really lacking,” Mangerson said. “It’s not just overseas products–it’s even our U.S.-made products that we are not getting.”
This is the second straight winter with supply shortages. For now, all Mangerson and his customers can do is wait for those supplies to arrive.
