A Georgia manufacturer of foam used in bedding and furniture plans to add a new factory in Northeast Maryland, state and company officials announced. Elite Comfort Solutions said the leased facility in Havre de Grace, Maryland, would bolster its foam pouring and fabrication capabilities.
The company, a subsidiary of Missouri manufacturing group Leggett & Platt, is a leader in polyurethane foam technologies used in mattresses and other furniture products, such as Advanced Memory Foam, temperature-responsive foam, and conventional comfort foams.
Company officials expect to add 225 new jobs over the next few years.
Tyson Hagale, the president of bedding products at Leggett & Platt, said the company is excited to bolster Elite Comfort Solutions with the new Maryland facility.
The state Commerce Department approved a $90,000 conditional loan to support the project. Harford County will also provide a $90,000 loan to aid training the new workforce. Elite is eligible for additional state and local tax credits, as well.
In addition to its Georgia operations, Elite operates manufacturing facilities in Arkansas, Mississippi, North Carolina, and California.
