SOCOM to Continue L3Harris Manpack Radio Procurement Under $297M Contract Modification

U.S. Special Operations Command can continue to order new manpack radio systems from L3Harris Technologies (NYSE: LHX) after SOCOM awarded a $297.2 million contract modification under the Next Generation Tactical Communications program.

The award is for the delivery of AN/PRC-167 multichannel radios and support equipment to special operations forces and increases the potential value of the original indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract to $552.2 million, the Department of Defense said Friday.

Harris Corp., which was chosen to replace SOCOM’s legacy manpack radios in June 2017, completed its merger with L3 Technologies to create L3Harris in July 2019.

AN/PRC-167 consolidates the features of multiple tactical devices into a single platform designed to help special operations forces connect and communicate.
