Shutterfly’s photo developing factory in Chesapeake to finally close – The Virginian-Pilot

It’s been a roller coaster ride for a photo developing lab in Chesapeake. The Lifetouch facility owned by Shutterfly, a digital photo developing brand, specializes in school photos and had first announced in early February that it would close. Then it announced that it was closing even sooner because of the coronavirus. Then — a reprieve — it reopened amid the pandemic, hiring back about 100 of its 317 workers to finish producing school photos and products before it planned to close for good by June. Now, it’s planning to close a bit sooner than planned. Spokeswoman Sondra Harding said operations would cease in mid-May and the facility in Chesapeake would close by June 5.
