Hyderabad: The Commissioner for Civil Supplies, P Satyanarayana Reddy has directed the whole sale traders of the state to sell the essential commodities at the Pre-Lockdown prices or face action. He held a meeting with the traders here on Thursday and enquired about the availability of stocks of pulses, red chilies, sugar, cooking oil, turmeric, tamarind and salt etc. He also wanted to know how long the stocks will lost and from where the stocks have be procured.
The traders apprised the government that they procure sugar from Maharashtra and Karnataka, salt from Gujarat, split Chickpea from Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, Red Gram from Maharashtra and Karnataka, Moong Dal from Rajasthan and oil from Krishnapatnam, Kakinada and Chennai Ports. However they brought to the notice of the government that the shutdown is causing problems in transporting the goods to the state.
The commissioner assured them that truck drivers can call the toll free number, give the details of the consignment and the check spot where they were stopped. He said that a number 040-23447770 has been dedicated for the purpose. The traders also said that over 800 tons of rice from Miryalaguda has been stopped due to shortage of Hamalis. While assuring the traders that all bottle necks will be sorted out, he said that the traders must be act with kindness at the time of a pandemic like Covid 19.
