Title
Alcoholic beverages, Alcoholic Beverage Control Board to allow private liquor stores opportunity to add liquor to inventory prior to delivery to ABC liquor stores, ABC may adopt rules
Description
Under existing law, the Alabama Alcoholic Beverage Control Board acts as the sole importer and wholesaler of liquor products for both state and private liquor stores
This bill would require the board, prior to delivery of any non-allocated liquor product to any state liquor store, to allow private liquor licensees 30 days to select whether to add that liquor to its inventory
This bill would require the board to distribute allocated liquor products to private liquor licensees and state liquor stores pursuant to a specified ratio
This bill would define “allocated liquor products” and would establish the Allocated Liquor Product Advisory Board with the power and duty to determine which liquor products shall be designated as allocated liquor products
This bill would also provide that a private liquor retailer may purchase liquor products from any state liquor store, under certain conditions
Relating to alcoholic beverages; to require the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board to allow private liquor retailers an opportunity to add certain liquors to their inventory prior to delivery of those liquors to state liquor stores; to provide further for the distribution of certain liquors; to define allocated liquor products; to establish the Allocated Liquor Product Advisory Board to designate which liquor products shall be allocated liquor products; to provide that a private liquor retailer may purchase liquor products from any state liquor store, under certain conditions; and to authorize the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board to adopt rules to implement this act.
