Delhi News Live: Union Minister and BJP leader Smriti Irani Wednesday hit out at Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal over his support to Minister Satyendar Jain who has been arrested in a money laundering case. “Arvind Kejriwal said corruption is tantamount to desh se gaddari (anti-nationalism). Does he know he is patronising those who have deceived the treasury and people? Shouldn’t he be declared as desh ka gaddar? How long will he (Jain) receive his (Kejriwal’s) support?” she said.
Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday defended Satyendar Jain as a ‘hardcore honest and patriot’ person who was being framed in a ‘false case’ and hoped the minister will come out clean after the ED probe. He also said that Jain should be awarded the Padma Vibhushan for giving the ‘mohalla clinics’ model that treats people free of cost.
Delhi on Wednesday recorded 368 fresh Covid-19 cases according to the Delhi State Health Bulletin. While the positivity rate stood at 1.74%, a total of 404 patients recovered from the infection. Delhi’s active tally of cases now stands at 1,567.
Jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, who is suspected to be involved in Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala’s killing, Wednesday withdrew his plea, claiming apprehension of a fake encounter by the Punjab Police, from the Delhi High Court. He will approach the Punjab and Haryana High Court instead. Delhi Police Tuesday took Bishnoi in police custody for three days in connection with a separate Arms Act case, a day after he was questioned by police inside Tihar jail over Moosewala’s death.
