KOTA KINABALU: Political campaigners are advised to not put up campaign material near electric poles, generators and other power generating machines to avoid any incidents.
Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) Asset Management General Manager Norhizami Abu Hasan said putting up campaign material near these places could pose a safety risk and disrupt power supply.
“Such actions might cause electrocution and disruption to power supply in the event of a flashover, ” he said in a statement on Sunday (Sept 13).
He said putting up any campaign material near or on SESB assets is a violation of the Power Supply Act 1990.
Norhizami urged all campaigners to be careful whenever they walk near electric poles or any power generating assets and to not let their excitement cloud their mind and judgement.
He also urged the public to contact the SESB careline at 15454,088-515000 or send a WhatsApp message to 019-8525427 if they see any wrongdoing with regards to the above matters.
