CASPER, Wyo. — Construction on the Moose-Wilson Road will resume at 7 a.m. Monday, July 11 in Grand Teton National Park.
Supply chain issues and staffing shortages impacting the construction industry led to delays of the project the National Park Service said in a June press release.
With construction resuming Monday, drivers should be aware of some closures of the road, the NPS’s press release Friday said.
The southern portion of Moose-Wilson Road between Granite Canyon Entrance to the Laurance S. Rockefeller Preserve will be closed on weekdays from July 11 to the Friday before Labor Day. That section will be open weekends from 7 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Monday, according to the NPS. The road will also be open on Labor Day. Parking along the road, including at trailheads, is prohibited. After Labor Day, the southern portion of the Moose-Wilson will be entirely closed.
“The Granite Canyon Trailhead will remain closed to all access,” the NPS said. “Winter access will be available from December 2022 to March 2023. Access to the Granite Canyon trail system, including the Valley Trail, is available from Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. Grand Teton is working in partnership with the Resort and Teton Village Association.”
The northern section of the Moose-Wilson Road will remain open during construction of the southern portion, providing access to the Laurance S. Rockefeller Preserve and the Death Canyon Trailhead.

“Park staff will evaluate construction impacts for 2023 and share more with the public in the fall. For more information about the project, visit the park website at go.nps.gov/moosewilson.”
