Just what the freight industry operating between the UK mainland and Northern Ireland didn’t want… but it’s going to get, according to this report from The Guardian. It claims that the forms Northern Irish businesses will need to fill in to ship goods across the Irish Sea will include 31 data sets, with the onus on hauliers to make sure they are done correctly. It’s even worse the other way round, with some 42 data sets.

“The exit and entry forms are mandatory and are the two parts of what is known as a safety and security certificate. It is required as part of a counter-terrorism regime devised to protect the US after the 9/11 attacks, but is not applicable within the European Union. After Brexit, it will apply in Northern Ireland and on trade moving from Great Britain to the EU.”
