New Jerseyans who rely on retail pharmacies and mail order facilities for their prescription drugs should feel confident they will get the medications that they need.
CVS Health said the company is closely monitoring the global manufacturing environment.
“We do not see any disruptions to the supply chain that will affect our ability to fill prescriptions for patients, now and into the near future. We always encourage patients to refill maintenance medications in a timely manner. In addition to our own monitoring, the Food and Drug Administration is closely monitoring medications that are made in China or rely solely on active pharmaceutical ingredients from China,” Mike DeAngelis, senior director, Corporate Communications told NJBIZ.

“Our pharmacists are trained and equipped to discuss medication-related concerns and alternative methods for prescription dispensing, such as prescription delivery or drive-thru options. Our pharmacy team also partners with health plan partners, physicians and state officials to help patients access the medications they need through services like 90-day medication supply, early refill authorizations and prescription delivery services,” the spokesperson said.
Express Scripts Pharmacy, a pharmacy benefit management company that supplies mail-order drugs, said the company has long-established plans that they employ to ensure its members have continued access to pharmacists and customer care advocates 24/7, and that they will continue to dispense medications.

Standard shipping is always free, and members can obtain up to 90-day supplies of their medication. They can easily manage their medications using the company website, www.express-scripts.com, or the Express Scripts mobile app,” a company spokesperson told NJBIZ.
