In one of the first steps after the historic victory in Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, the Yogi Adityanath-led Bharatiya Janata Party government has opened the registration process for wheat procurement in the state under the minimum support price scheme.

According to the schedule fixed by the Food and Civil Supplies department, wheat will be procured from April 1 to June 15. For the year 2022-23, the government has fixed the MSP of wheat at Rs 2015 per quintal.

The officials at the Food and Civil Supplies department said that it would be mandatory for every farmer to register on the department’s portal for sale of wheat at government procurement centres. He said farmers who had registered for paddy procurement in kharif marketing year 2021-22 would not have to re-register and they would just have to update their old details and lock them.

The payment will be made directly in their bank accounts therefore, it is mandatory to share the active bank account details for registration in the portal. The wheat will be purchased from the farmers at more than 6,000 centres across the state.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed that farmers should not face any problem at any purchasing centre.

“Be it storage godown or purchasing centre, adequate arrangements should be made for the security of wheat everywhere,” the chief minister said.

He asked the officials to ensure that the farmers got the benefit of MSP. He also gave clear instructions to the officials that wheat should be procured at all the purchasing centres with complete transparency. “It should be ensured that the farmers do not face any inconvenience in selling their produce and they should be paid in a time-bound manner,” he added.
