Indore: Ahead of Rabi crops procurement 2022-23, the state government has further simplified the process of selling the agriculture produce by booking a slot online while payment will be directly credited into the farmers’ bank account linked with Aadhar number.
Principal Secretary (Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection) Faiz Ahmed Kidwai, who on Friday held a divisional-level meeting in Indore to review ongoing preparations for Rabi crops procurement 2022-23 starting from March 25, asked collectors and other senior officials of all eight districts to ensure that the farmers should link their Aadhar number with their bank accounts as the condition to sell their crops to the state government at Minimum Support Price (MSP). In the new system, the farmers can now book a slot online to sell their crops as per his convenience while earlier, the seller had to wait to receive an SMS to visit Mandi/procurement centre and sell their crops on a particular day.
“In this way, the farmers can now choose a nearby procurement centre, date and time to sell their crops by booking the slot online” the PS said, adding that all the collectors have been asked to ensure availability of 50% sacks before starting Rabi crops procurement 2022-23.
Speaking over comparatively a smaller number of farmers registering in Rabi crops procurement 2022-23 than the last year, he said, “Mandis are offering good prices to purchase wheat crops while compulsion of Aadhar number based registration could be the main reasons behind it”. He added that additional stock of rice is being imported for the mills in Indore division to produce rice bran oil, which is used as cooking oil.
According to the senior official, the government is contemplating linking fair price shops with MP Online, Common Service Center and such other facilities while free Wifi, banking correspondent and availability of 5KG gas cylinders on sale are also proposed. TNN
