Project Boon is teaming up with The Hitch Burger Grill, Hillside Community Church, Firm Media and OmniTrans to host a drive-through back-to-school backpack event and grocery distribution for families in need in Rancho Cucamonga and the surrounding area.
The event will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 26, at The Hitch Burger Grill, 10789 Arrow Route, in Rancho Cucamonga.
Participating families will receive one bag of groceries, and school children will be given backpacks filled with school supplies. The distribution is limited to one bag of groceries and two backpacks per car, according to a news release. Families are asked not to line up early for the event.
Project Boon, a nonprofit organization based in Rancho Cucamonga, holds a backpack giveaway every year. This is first year it will be a drive-through event, because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Project Boon has become familiar with drive-through events after holding two grocery distributions this spring using the drive-through at The Hitch Burger Grill.
“Getting to be a part of the Project Boon grocery distribution event was a joy,” Brooke Hill, a Project Boon volunteer, said in the news release about her experience at one of the drive-through grocery distributions.
“Having the option to use the drive-through helped make the event run very smooth and efficient for everyone involved. I appreciated that we were able to keep socially distant throughout the entire event, but didn’tlose out on making connections with the people there,” Hill said.
