Aulds is one of the UKs leading Bakery and Frozen Dessert manufacturers, with production facilities at Inchinnan, near Glasgow. We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Procurement Manager to carry out and further develop the procurement function within the Aulds Group of Companies.

Aulds manufactures on-trend desserts for the food service market and day-fresh bakery products for the ever-changing retail market. The company produces both own-label and branded products and has an enviable portfolio of blue-chip customers throughout the UK and Europe.

The Role

As a senior member of the management team, you will be highly involved in the development of the business and its products, maintaining the supply base, sourcing new ingredients and finding ways to improve the company’s performance,

You will specifically be responsible for sourcing and procuring ingredients and packaging, This will include developing and executing a sourcing strategy to maintain a sustainable supply base, creating a focus on quality, cost and continuity.

Reporting to the site leadership team, you will ensure that you deliver the group strategic and operational procurement needs and that the requirements of each site are effectively managed on both a strategic and daily supply basis.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Working with the development team, identifying new trends and finding the ingredients to meet these trends which optimise the commercial equation
  • Analysing the spend in the different areas of the business to identify sourcing and negotiation opportunities
  • Building long term relationships with suppliers to ensure good working relationships, market knowledge and a reliable supplier base
  • Challenging the supplier base to ensure that it is fit for purpose and able to develop in line with the company’s plans
  • Negotiating pricing and quality standards on an ongoing basis
  • Monitoring short- and long-term stockholding to maximise the stock vs cost equation.
  • Ongoing supplier performance management and the maintenance of supplier scorecards
  • Working to budgets, setting and achieving cost and stockholding targets.

The ideal candidate:

  • Procurement trained, from the food or similar industry, ideally with experience of procuring ingredients and packaging
  • A strong negotiator, planner and organiser
  • A creative and motivated individual
  • Possesses good Microsoft Excel and general systems skills
  • An excellent communicator and a good team player
  • A can-do attitude and hands on approach coupled with a desire to succeed.
  • Professional in manner and able to be a respected ambassador for the business.
  • The ability to make difficult decisions and to take a calm and measured approach in an often-pressured environment which  involves working to tight deadlines to achieve results.
  • A motivated self-starter able to identify and implement improvement ideas to the stage of delivery of commercial benefit.
  • With the company’s emphasis on sustainability, you will require a good understanding of sustainability, recycling and carbon footprint minimisation.
