A Michigan manufacturer of plastic plant containers plans to establish a new facility in East Georgia, state and company officials announced.
East Jordan Plastics announced an investment of over $44 million in the 255,500-square-foot site in Lyons, Georgia. The building will house logistics and distribution operations during its first year, then add recycling and manufacturing processes over the next five years.
The company says it is one of the largest makers of thermoformed and injection-molded horticultural containers in North America. Its pots, trays, and accessories are used by nurseries, garden centers, and other retailers.
The new facility will add 80 jobs. Scott Diller, the company’s president, said East Jordan Plastics is excited to join the Lyons community.
EJP’s closed-loop process, officials said, also produces containers using recycled plastics which leads to the reuse of more than 20 million pounds of its plastic containers per year.
