Pitfalls on Tin Factory flyover

Commuters have been complaining about potholes at the Tin Factory flyover. They say that they are especially risky for two-wheeler riders.

The strategic flyover connects to several areas like Old Madras Road, Magadi Road, Indiranagar, KR Puram, Mahadevpura, Marathahalli, and Whitefield.

Siva Kumar DM, a resident of Hoskote, said, “ I have been traveling from Hoskote to Indiranagar for the past seven years. Lately, I have been using the Tin factory flyover, and it has many potholes. It is risky for two-wheeler riders, especially at night when we cannot see these potholes. There are cars ahead of us as well, and this can lead to many accidents. This flyover needs special assistance and all the potholes need to be fixed.”

Siva is a Tech Manager in Mapmyindia, and along with other citizens, he has been mapping potholes and other bad roads on the Mappls app run by the company. The map helps people with voice-guided directions to their destination, provides live traffic updates, and easy routes.

He said that one can use the map and navigate safely by avoiding potholes.

“Potholes need to be fixed for a safe commute. We can’t have bad roads. The civic body should ensure that citizens are provided with basic amenities,” he added.

Abdul Aleem, president of KARAMoC, said that crores were being spent on roads, and they should at least be made safe for people.

Another resident, Vinay, said, “It is tough to avoid the potholes in flyovers as vehicles move back-to-back. The High Court has ordered BBMP to fix potholes many times, but they have failed to do so. We have seen people losing their lives because of potholes. Many other flyovers, like the Agara and ORR ones, are also in a similar state.”
