Food and beverages giant PepsiCo is set to grow again in Georgia. Gov. Brian Kemp announced March 10 that the owner of Pepsi, Frito-Lay, and Quaker Oats plans to spend $260 million to expand its beverage plant in the Atlanta suburb of Tucker.
The PepsiCo Beverage North America (PBNA) project is expected to create at least 136 new jobs and push the company’s DeKalb County full-time headcount to over 600. It will expand the current Tucker facility by more than 260,000 square feet and enable it to boost production five-fold by 2025, making it one of PepsiCo’s biggest factories.
“This expansion will greatly increase PBNA’s production serving nearby Atlanta and the wider Georgia region to continue the growth of our business and customers in the area,” PBNA supply chain leader Karen Jordan said in a release from Kemp’s office.
The PepsiCo Beverages North America expansion comes less than two years after PepsiCo invested $200 million in its Frito-Lay factory in Perry, Georgia, a project that created 240 jobs in the Peach State.
PepsiCo’s top beverage brands also include Gatorade, Mountain Dew, Naked, Tropicana, Lipton, Aquafina, and SodaStream. The company reported over $79 billion in 2021 net revenue.
