Pelican Brewing Company has been crafting beers with passion, purpose & integrity since 1996. We began in our original pub in Pacific City, OR. We have since built a second brewpub in Cannon Beach and currently constructing a third in Siletz Bay. This position will work in our production facility in Tillamook. We are a healthy & growing brewery and are on track to produce 50k barrels this year.
Job Profile:
The Assistant Packaging manager serves as support for our Packaging and Brewery management teams. This person also provides leadership to our packaging production team members. The successful candidate will possess agility & tenacity, and leadership skills. Communication is key in our rapidly changing environment. Managers are expected to help grow our staff in professionalism & skillset.
Qualifications:
- 2 years of proven leadership and supervisory skills/experience.
- Experience with advanced rotary packaging/canning equipment.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and teambuilding skills.
- Knowledge of industry safe work practices.
- Able to read and interpret manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
- Proven problem solving skills.
- Self-starter, proactive, open-minded, positive approach.
- Ability to successfully motivate and coach others.
- Highly effective multi-tasker.
- Forklift & order picking skill beneficial.
Job Responsibilities & Duties:
- Leadership, Management & Accountability for 3-5 packaging employees.
- Strong knowledge of packaging equipment & operations.
- Drive safe and efficient operation of equipment.
- Train, schedule and supervise packaging staff.
- Responsible for consistent communications and conducting line meetings with staff.
- Setup, startup, change-over & CIP daily.
- Assists QA department with QC checks on packaged products while operating the line.
- Troubleshooting of all packaging equipment.
- Ensure production & QA/QC records are updated daily.
- Communicate effectively with brewery and cellar staff to insure efficient production runs & changeovers.
- Work with Operations and Packaging Managers to maintain, manage and reconcile packaging material inventories.
- Work with Operations & Packaging Managers to create an effective preventative maintenance schedule on all key brewery equipment.
- Must be able to work standing and walking for up to 8+ hours per day. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
