STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — First, Easter mass is cancelled, and now Peeps.
The latest casualty of the COVID-19 pandemic is the beloved marshmallow candy, Peeps, it was announced yesterday.
The last day of production at Peeps factory is today, Wednesday, March 25, according to a statement from Just Born, the company that makes the tradition Easter candy, which come in yellow, pink, and other pastel colors.

Peeps production will cease through April 7 at its factories in Philadelphia and Bethlehem, Pa. The candy company has also closed its Peeps & Company Store in Center Valley, Pennsylvania.
The statement was released with less than three weeks to go until Easter, arguably the biggest day of the year for the sugar-coated marshmallows, synonymous with spring and Easter celebrations.
