PCB design tool provides supply chain insight

Altium Designer 22 delivers real-time supply chain intelligence directly within the PCB design environment. The Part Insights Experience feature of Designer 22 furnishes information about component specifications, lifecycle, and availability, which Altium claims is always there, always right, and always on.

Supply information is fueled by BOM tools and integrations from Octopart and IHS Markit databases, aggregating data from over 300 distributors and over 1 billion parts. By avoiding unavailable or obsolete parts, the Part Insights Experience ensures a healthy BOM throughout the design process. It provides production risk alerts so that engineers can quickly identify risks across projects that use supply-constrained or end-of-life components. Part Insights Experience even suggests alternative parts.

In addition to the Part Insights Experience, Altium Designer 22 offers enhanced Spice simulation tools enabled with Monte Carlo analysis to measure circuit quality. To create complex designs and quickly prepare them for fabrication, Designer 22 provides PCB technology awareness for design optimization, enhanced intelligent routing to reduce manual routing time, and improved solder paste specifications to help avoid fabrication bottlenecks.
