A major pallet supplier to the northeast United States has announced a significant expansion in the form of a new facility that will boost its supply chain capabilities.
New Brunswick, New Jersey-based Greenway Products & Services said on January 18 that it has opened a new pallet manufacturing factory in Baltimore, Maryland, where it plans to hire up to 50 employees. Greenway said the new plant supports the rapid rise of online shopping and an increased amount of warehouses in the Mid-Atlantic region.
The Baltimore facility features state-of-the-art automation to produce and remanufacture pallets at the rate of 20,000 per week. Those pallets will support retailers and manufacturing logistics operations throughout the states of Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, eastern Pennsylvania, and New York. The pallets will be made on two production lines — one acting as a direct line for pallet repair and assembly, and the other used as a recovery line to preserve sturdy and reliable components from recycled pallets.
Greenway noted that the Baltimore plant is equipped with trailers and tractors for customer pickups and deliveries.
The company also scheduled a job fair at the new facility for January 27.
Greenway was formed in 2015 through the merger of Pallets Unlimited and Generated Unlimited. Baltimore marks the company’s first expansion since 2019, when it opened a new facility in Dayton, New Jersey, that serves as a hub for making 48×40-inch pallets, along with a high volume of non-standard pallets.
