WHAT: Township trustee meeting Tuesday
PRESENT: Rich Harkins, Steve Gerberry and Marvin McBride
Trustees:
• Approved applying for a $14,000 equipment grant through Ohio Department of Commerce Division of State Fire Marshal’s Office for six sets of gear for firefighters. No local match is required;
• Approved applying for a Federal Emergency Management Agency Assistance to Firefighters grant for getting a new rescue truck to replace a brush truck and SUV. Also being sought is a grant for fire equipment, hoses and nozzles;
• Approved applying for the Ohio EMS grant for replacing fire department EMS bags. The grant will require a local match;
• Will seek a $2,274 scrap tire grant from the Geauga-Trumbull Solid Waste Management District;
• Designated McBride as the alternate for the chairman of the trustees to attend the annual Trumbull County Combined Health District Advisory Council meeting and having the authority to vote on behalf of the chairman;
• Approved use of the community park property for the 2020 Flag Day Festival June 8 to 15. The property can be used for any purpose associated with the festival. The parade will be 6 p.m. June 12. Township employees will assist with the planning, setup, operation and take-down of the festival and also the parade during regular work hours or over the weekend on an as-needed basis;
• Set Easter egg hunt 2 p.m. April 4 at the community park and gazebo;
• Set spring cleanup for the week of May 11 with residents to put material out the same night as regular trash pickup;
• Reminded residents who all decorations from township cemeteries must be removed by March 31 so crews can begin spring cleanup and prepare for Memorial Day ceremonies;
• Announced they are keeping a list of residents that are interested in switching their electric service to Ohio Edison / First Energy. Residents should contact the township administration building if they want to be added to the list.
