Ogun women run baby factory, sell child N400,000

en of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested two women for allegedly operating a baby factory in Agbado, in the Ifo Local Government Area of the state.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed the development in a statement on Monday, said the suspects, Christiana Iyama and Margaret Ogwu, were arrested on August 27, 2022, following information received by police.

Oyeyemi said, “Upon the information, the DPO Agbado Division, SP Awoniyi Adekunle, mobilised his detectives to the area where the said Christiana Iyama and Margaret Ogwu were arrested.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that Margaret Ogwu was one of the girls harboured by Christiana Iyama who employed the service of a man to impregnate her and collected the child on delivery which she sold at the rate of N400,000 to one of her customers.

“She also confessed to the police that she has sold up to three children from different women to her different customers.”

Oyeyemi, however, said the state Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, had ordered the transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Departments for further investigation and diligent prosecution.
