Northwich warehouse could soon be demolished and replaced

PLANS have been submitted to demolish and replace a commercial building in Northwich town centre.

Futureun Pension Scheme has applied to Cheshire West and Chester Council for permission to knockdown existing offices and warehousing in Ash Street.

If approved, a new two-storey building providing ‘high quality multi-purpose accommodation’ would be erected on the site.

An existing office premises would be retained as part of the redevelopment.

A design and access statement, written by White Box Architecture on behalf of the applicant, says: “The proposed design occupies the footprint of the existing building, with accommodation set over two storeys across the whole footprint of the building.

“A central atrium will link the two brick-clad volumes which will also be the circulation core of the building.

Northwich Guardian:

“The brick-clad volumes have been designed to mirror the form and massing of the terraced housing opposite the site on Ash Street.

“The scale of the proposed scheme is sympathetic to the surrounding context.”

Access to the site will be from a retained entrance in Brook Street, with an area of the site being dedicated to providing parking.

There will be 14 spaces in total including two disabled parking spaces and provision for two spaces to be served by an electric charging post.

Space will also be provided to house six bicycles.

The deadline for submitting comments is January 27.
