December 13 (Renewables Now) – Nordex SE (ETR:NDX1) said Friday its factory in La Vall d’Uixo, Spain, started manufacturing wind turbines from the Delta4000 series.
The first nacelle for the N149/4.0-4.5 turbine has rolled off the production line and departed for a wind farm in Spain, the German manufacturer said.
The facility in La Vall d’Uixo is the company’s second factory in Europe to make Delta4000 machines after its plant in the Germany city of Rostock launched series production this March.
Nordex Group CEO Jose Luis Blanco said there is an increased global demand for the Delta4000 generation. Presently, almost every other turbine Nordex has sold comes from that particular series.
The company expects to make close to 250 nacelles, equivalent to more than 1 GW of annual capacity, in the La Vall d’Uixo facility throughout 2020. The Rostock factory is planned to manufacture 420 Delta4000 units in 2020, in addition to other turbine models.
