‘No, Yeah,’ Bell’s award-winning beer expands distribution footprint across America

COMSTOCK, MI — Another Bell’s beer is on its way across the country, expanding its footprint to 10 states, just over one year after its initial launch.

No, Yeah, really.

Bell’s golden ale, No, Yeah, named aptly after familiar Michigander slang, expanded to an additional four states this past week and is now available in stores in Pennsylvania, Iowa, Kentucky and Missouri as well as Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Wisconsin and Minnesota, according to a news release from the brewery.

The brewery, which was founded by Larry Bell in the mid-1980s announced its sale to Australian-based beverage company, Lion, last November. Lion also recently purchased Fort Collins, Colorado-based, New Belgium Brewing Co. in 2019. Following the closure of the Bell’s sale on Dec. 31, the two American craft beer giants are now being overseen by the same leadership team, which is focused on Lion’s craft portfolio.

At the time of the sale, Bell said: “Lion is not buying this company to sell less beer. They intend to grow this and I think Bell’s is well poised with our production facilities and with our people to enjoy that growth.”

When Bell’s launched No, Yeah in mid-January a year ago, it was available in six packs only and on tap in those six aforementioned states.

The beer, which has an ABV of 4.5%, is now available in 12 packs wherever it’s sold.

“We have seen a lot of success with this beer,” said Bell’s Executive Vice President Carrie Yunker. “It’s a top seller in our home market, including the Great Lakes region.

“And it wasn’t long after its debut that it was recognized as one of the best out there, a reflection of all the hard work that went into bringing this beer to life.”

The beer won a silver medal at the Great American Beer Festival in Denver, Colorado last fall.

“It’s delicious,” Yunker said. “The packaging has a great personality and the name connects with folks. It really is a nice beer.”

Twelve packs of No, Yeah are available now at the Bell’s General Store in Kalamazoo.

In addition to the unveiling of 16-ounce Hopslam cans earlier this month, other things Bell’s has on tap include a series of releases, official tappings and celebrations for Kalamazoo Craft Beverage Week, which starts Jan. 28 and runs through Feb. 6. Featured beers at this year’s event will be the BBA Chocolate Expo, Imperial Official Hazy IPA, Mango Sour and LoSun Winterfest Beer.
