A fire that reportedly broke out in the heat treatment area of MNP Corporation headquarters Friday should not cause any major disruption to factory operations.
The Sterling Heights fire department reported that trucks were dispatched to MNP’s building on Utica Road near Van Dyke Avenue and M-59 just before noon on Friday. The fire was quickly brought under control and there were no injuries reported.
Employees were evacuated from the building and did not return to finish their shifts.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation but fire officials said they do not consider the blaze to be suspicious. Damage is being estimated and the fire department said it appears the building will be back to normal functioning “shortly,”
MNP Corporation has been in Sterling Heights for more than 50 years and is a major supplier of fasteners to manufacturers worldwide.
