Procurement software provider Atamis has become part of Banyan Software, a company focused on acquiring, building and growing enterprise software businesses.
Based in South Gate House, Cardiff, Atamis was established in 2009 and provides government and private sector customers across the UK and Ireland with the tools to scrutinise, plan, source and manage their procurement spend.
Atamis represents Banyan’s first UK/Europe-based acquisition.
Covering large swathes of the UK public sector, Atamis’ client base includes central government departments such as the Department of Health & Social Care, the Home Office and the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, local authorities across England and the majority of the public sector in Wales through its position on the National Procurement Service framework.
Private sector clients include the Admiral Group, Principality Building Society and British Business Bank.
“Atamis has built a robust product that is specifically designed to meet the full procurement lifecycle needs of its customers,” said David Berkal, chief executive at Banyan Software.
“While the ownership may have changed, Atamis will continue to provide the best-in-class service that clients are accustomed to and we look forward to continuing to invest in the business.”
The immediate impact of the acquisition will involve Atamis accelerating its recruitment programme with a view to expand its delivery team in the coming months.
“In selecting a buyer, it was important to me to know that the future of Atamis and the team was secured”,” said Nick James, founder of Atamis. “Rather than accept an offer from the type of investor only interested in short term profit, I wanted the confidence of knowing I would be entrusting the future of the company into a safe and nurturing environment.”
Bevan Buckand and Mills & Reeve advised Atamsis.
