New interior design business to open on the Macomb square in spring.

MACOMB — JBee Designs, a kitchen and bath design business will be opening their business at 17 East Side Square this Spring.

Jena Bredeman is from Burlington, Iowa, but has been in the area for 13 years. She and her husband, Blake are co-owners of the the new business. She has four children ranging from ages 2-15 that attend school in the Macomb School District.

“I’m a country girl at heart, an avid hunter and painter. I have a very artistic background. I love being in Macomb and in the Midwest.”

Bredeman is a Certified Kitchen and Bath Designer (CKBD), and is certified by the National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA). She said she is well educated on building codes.

She said the community is missing a business such as this. “We have lumber yards, but have to go out of town for big box stores.”

“I desire to have a personal upfront intimate experience with people who need the guidance. I’m basically offering a boutique feel and interior design showroom.”

Services JBee Designs will be providing are: designing remodels, kitchen and bath boutique, design services and ordering of materials, consultations, help with choosing paint and pictures, contractor finder and project management to name a few. The initial consultation is free.

“I am offering the design and materials for the space with 2D floor plans and elevations, and 3D renderings, guidance in material selection, project management, logistics in deliveries and installation,” she said. “I do not have any contractors that work for JBee, but can refer clients to the right contractor for the job.”

Bredeman plans to work with both commercial and residential properties, but the primary focus will be residential, including new construction and remodels.

The Bredemans close on the property at 17 E Side Square on Friday, December 17. They plan to do demolition on the inside and renovate the main level. Once the showroom is up and open, the apartments upstairs will be renovated. She says they are excited to restore the beauty of the old building as there is so much history, and archaeological details there.

“I’m very excited, and I love what I do. Being able to service the community with my ideas and skill set, I’m pumped,” she said. “This is a big step for me personally, it is for any entrepreneur.”

The showroom will be opening in the Spring, but JBee Designs are accepting clients now. To make an appointment with Jena, you can contact her at 309-333-0637.
