New EU procurement thresholds – Lexology

New thresholds for regulated contracts will come into effect on 1 January 2020.

The new euro thresholds are a slight decrease on the current thresholds (which apply until the end of 2019). The new thresholds are set out below and will apply until 31 December 2021.

The corresponding sterling values, published in a communication from the Commission available here, are also reproduced below. The new sterling thresholds are a slight increase on the current thresholds.

Light-touch services

The threshold applying to public contracts for social and other specific services listed in Annex XIV of Directive 2014/24/EU (commonly referred to as “light-touch” services) is unchanged and remains at €750,000 (the current sterling equivalent is £663,540).

In the utilities sector, the threshold for light-touch services remains at €1,000,000 (with a current sterling equivalent of £884,720).
