LONG ISLAND CITY, QUEENS — A new all-day restaurant in Long Island City is looking to mix up the traditional dining experience.
ama, which opened Monday in The Collective Paper Factory, will specialize in seasonal fare served family-style, on dim sum-inspired themed carts, or as a create-your-own “market table” plate.
Executive Chef Randall DeFalco, formerly of The Sea Grill at Rockefeller Center, is behind the globally-inspired menu; highlights include bo ssam BBQ pork shoulder served family-style, Southern fried chicken and a seafood cart with oysters, clams, ceviche, salmon poke and crudos.
“Queens is the most culturally diverse borough in New York City,” DeFalco said. “I wanted to create a menu that brings together different culinary traditions in a setting that feels like a home away from home.”
ama, the term for “mother” across several cultures, will also offer bottomless brunch and a menu of original cocktails.
The restaurant is in the lobby of The Collective Paper Factory, a new co-living building in the former hotel at 37-06 36th St.
