The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services will provide an update on the state’s COVID-19 vaccine supply on Tuesday.
A specific time for the announcement has not been released.
The update will come as eligible groups who haven’t received their first dose express frustrations and as clinics struggle to meet the demands.
On Monday, the Orange County Health Department said its clinic has run out of first doses, and it’s not clear when they’ll get more from the state. Orange County sent out a notice saying, until the supply is significantly increased, it could be weeks or even months before everyone in Phase 1 and 2 is vaccinated.
In Cumberland County and Lee County, clinics are open primarily for those getting their second dose of the vaccine.
Other counties, including Wake, received fewer vaccines than they expected this week and are slowing down their appointment-only vaccine process as a result.
In Durham, county leaders are preparing to add a new mass vaccination site to the distribution process, which would have the capacity to vaccinate around 45,000 people a week.
Mass vaccination sites have already been set up in other parts of the state, including Charlotte and Greenville.
