Narcotics Bureau nab 22 people for procurement and sale of contraband drugs

The Narcotics Control Bureau of Nepal Police has arrested 22 people, including four women, for their alleged involvement in procurement and sale of contraband drugs.

In a press statement released by the bureau on Wednesday, the arrests were made over a period of two weeks between July 16 to August 3. The bureau seized 1,180 Dialex-DC bottles, 459 gms heroin, 1,560 files of Nitravet tablets and 150 files of Proxyvon capsules.

Of the total arrested, 12 people were arrested with heroin from different parts of the Valley. Nine of the 12 arrested are men while three are women, said the bureau in the statement.

The bureau estimates the total market worth of the seized contraband drugs to be Rs 5.8 million.

On July 24, police arrested Tulasa Khadka, 33, from Mahalaxmi Municipality, Imadol with Nitravet tablets, Proxyvon capsules and Dialex-DC. Police also arrested, Yubraj Khadka, Tulasa’s assistant from the same location.

The police then arrested 46-year-old Kishor Chaulagain, Tulasa’s supplier, from Manahara in Kageshwori Municipality ward no-9 two days later. On the same day, another drug supplier, Man Bahadur Tamang was arrested from his home in Besigaun of Gokarneshwor Municipality.
