The Mustard Seed Food Pantry at Prairie Home United Methodist Church held their January distribution on Thursday, January 20. In spite of the frigid, single digit wind chill, 17 households were served. Volunteers included Brenda and Donnie Sells, Jerry Oglesbay, Dennis Toalson, Angela Marcum, Betty and Dave Hatfield, Don Almond, and Nancy Kixmiller. The Mustard Seed distributes the third Thursday of the month. Prairie Home R-V celebrated Homecoming earlier in January. Some of the most popular events leading up to the game are the dressup days for students and staff. Tuesday was Twin Day: Country vs. Country Club. Winners were: K-6 – Maggie Menold and Kinzie Waibel, Brielle Rentel and Avery Sullard, Brady Alpers and Lilli Moon, Grace King and Paige Alpers; Junior High – Reagan Haslag and Tyleigh Kendrick; High School – Madison Brown and Kelcy Mullett, Julie Luckett and Emma Cook, Sophia Foster and Piper Merrill Staff – Leah Lorenz and Christin Rutledge, Kaitlyn Gebhard and Christa Brueckner.
Wednesday all were encouraged to wear their favorite Western gear. Winners were K-6: Avery Sullard, Fatima Alabidi, Corban Hodges, Brady Alpers JH: Reagan Haslag, Cooper Brandes HS: Tripp Kendrick, Preston Scheidt, Madison Brown Staff: Taylor Muri, Andrea Mullett.
Thursday participants got to really think outside the box as they were tasked to use “Anything But a Backpack” to transport their books. Winners were: K-6: Lilli Moon, Connor Shively, Phoenix Cantrell, Paige Alpers; Junior High: Ava Marcum, Hunter Scott; High School: Will Wright, Tripp Kendrick, Blayne Williams; Staff: Tashia. Martin, Kaitlyn Gebhard.
