MoU signed for e-procurement software across Punjab

A memorandum of understating (MoU) was signed between the Punjab Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) and the Federal Public Procurement Regulatory Authority for developing, acquiring and launching of e-procurement software across Punjab.

The MoU signing ceremony was held at Auditorium of Planning & Development Board. Chairman P&D Board Abdullah Khan Sumbal addressed the ceremony through video-link. He said that e-procurement software had been exclusively made for the Punjab PPRA according to the provincial procurement legal framework, which would be provided by the Federal PPRA (FPPRA) free of cost. He said that the process of mapping exercises had been completed and appreciated the Punjab PPRA efforts for the revolutionary step towards e-procurement.

He said the PPRA Punjab had initiated an e-procurement project in 2021 for implementation of e-procurement across Punjab, which would strengthen the public procurement management system in the province with the objective of improving efficiency, transparency, accountability, value for money and business development.

It would result in substantial savings ranging from 5-30 per cent of public expenditure in public procurement, as reported by different studies, he added.

The ceremony was also attended by Dr Sohail Anwar, Secretary P&D, Maqbool Ahmad Gondal, MD FPPRA, Masood Anwar, Member IT P&D, M Aslam Waseem, DG Legal FPPRA, Tariq Javed, Project Manager PMU FPPRA and others.
