Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan received information about the works related to the procurement of summer moong and urad in the state in a meeting held at his residence. About 3.5 lakh metric tonnes of moong and urad have been procured in the state.
The procurement done is more than the target given by the Central Government. Chief Minister Chouhan received details of the aspects related to procurement. Chief Secretary Iqbal Singh Bains and other senior officers were present. After reviewing the procurement work, Chouhan informed the Union Food and Public Distribution Minister Piyush Goyal on phone about the progress of the work of procurement of Moong and Urad in Madhya Pradesh.
Chief Minister Chouhan also reviewed the payment made to the farmers for the amount of the procured crop. It was informed that moong is being procured in 32 districts and urad in 10 districts. In the state 2 lakh 34 thousand 772 farmers had got registered. So far one lakh 46 thousand 886 farmers have sold moong crop. According to the instructions of the Central Government, 40 quintal quantity is being procured per farmer per day. So far, moong worth Rs 2507.12 crore has been purchased. An amount of Rs 1415.33 crore has been paid to the farmers for the crop sold on support price. This year 370 procurement centres for moong and urad have been started in the state. The registered area of moong in the state is 6 lakh hectares and that of urad is more than 10 thousand hectares.
It was informed that about 70 thousand metric tonnes more have been procured in the state than the Central Government’s target of procurement. Against the target of procurement of 2 lakh 75 thousand 645 metric tonnes for moong by the central government in the year 2022-23, so far 3 lakh 44 thousand 622 metric tonnes of moong has been procured in Madhya Pradesh.
It was informed that maximum moong has been purchased in Narmadapuram, Narsinghpur, Raisen, Sagar, Sehore, Harda, Jabalpur and Dewas.
In Narmadapuram district alone, one lakh 17 thousand 603 metric tonnes of moong has been procured. 58 thousand 880 metric tonnes has been procured in Harda, 52 thousand 993 metric tonnes in Sehore, 31 thousand 616 metric tonmes in Narsinghpur, 24 thousand 368 metric tonnes in Raisen, 18 thousand 337 metric tonnes in Jabalpur, 14 thousand 779 metric tonnes in Dewas and 8 thousand 155 metric tonnes has been procured in Sagar. The work of giving necessary information to the farmers by sending SMS is also being done continuously in the entire state. About 2.25 lakh SMS have been sent so far.
From last 8 August, moong and urad are being procured under the Central Government’s Price Support Scheme. Additional Chief Secretary Farmers Welfare and Agriculture Development Ajit Kesari and Agriculture Production Commissioner Shailendra Singh were present.
