Modi government hell bent on diverting the peaceful agitation by not resolving issue, humiliating farmers: Bhagwant Mann

CHANDIGARH: Reacting to the failure of the 11th round of meeting between the farmers and the centre government, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government was failing instead of resolving the issues of the farmers.

In a statement issued from the party headquarters on Friday, state president and MP Bhagwant Mann said that the centre government was working to provoke the issue instead of resolving it. He said that it was highly reprehensible that in today’s meeting the government had insulted the farmers leaders instead of resolving their issues and the Delhi Police had attacked the vehicle of farmer leader Ruldu Singh Mansa and smashed the car’s rear glass.

Mann said that in today’s meeting the people of the country had hoped that the centre government would accept the demands of the farmers for immediate repeal of the three anti-farmers agriculture black laws; but it was very sad that the ministers of the Modi government had started intimidating the farmers leaders like goons. “The constant threats from BJP goons to kill farmer leaders Dr Darshan Pal and Rakesh Tikait and use of foul language against their families have exposed the true face of BJP, ” said Mann. He added that in a democratic country, every citizen has the freedom to speak, but the Modi government telling the farmers as to why they had spoken in the media was nothing short of an emergency, during which fundamental rights were being trampled on.

The AAP leader said that a democratically elected central government was ruling the country like a dictator. He said that the Modi government should have immediately accepted the demand of the benefactors of the country and immediately repealed the black laws, but the government was testing the patience of the farmers. Mann said that the government should stop the nefarious schemes of intimidating, threatening and misleading the farmers and immediately repeal the black laws ‘death warrants’.
