An impressive Minecraft factory build uses Villagers as its dedicated workforce, but these hapless mobs are subjected to less-than-ideal conditions.
An industrious Minecraft player has built a fully-functional factory, but conditions are less than ideal for its Villager workforce. Mojang’s beloved survival sandbox title gives players the tools and resources to construct countless complex creations. While many Minecraft mods have added new creatures and items to the game, skilled players can bring breathtaking structures to life using just the base game.
Minecraft’s randomly-generated worlds contain an abundance of materials that players can harvest and reuse to create their own structures. Stone, wood, sand and dirt are basic ingredients that can be transformed into a huge swath of different building blocks like brick and glass. Particularly clever players can even use a material called Redstone, combined with special command blocks, to create moving objects and automatic machinery. Pistons, doors and Dispensors are just a few of the objects that can be tied to Redstone through activators like switches and pressure plates, and using these features in tandem can lead to amazing builds like an in-game Minecraft Wordle board.
Reddit user Scary_Pressure1749 recently showed off a unique Redstone-powered factory that forces Villagers to work in unsafe conditions. The impressive build features a massive modeled exterior, complete with a smokestack and stalwart Golem guards to keep workers inside. The interior of the factory, meanwhile, is filled with Villager workers who are locked inside by Redstone-powered doors. The factory floor is lined with beds for these hapless mobs, creating an extremely hazardous work environment for the unfortunate workers as they sleep near machinery. A child is even seen running around the factory, which is surely a violation of multiple safety codes.
While Redstone lets Scary_Pressure1749 create an authentically drab and automated factory, some Minecraft builds instead aim for wonder and color. For example, a Minecraft build of the house from Up lets users take to the skies and sit among the game’s blocky clouds. The beloved Disney-Pixar animated film sees protagonists Carl and Russell tie countless balloons to Carl’s house and fly around the world on an awe-inspiring adventure. The Minecraft version of the house manages to capture the wonder and joy of this concept, though sadly the build does not actually move through the air.
Scary_Pressure1749’s Minecraft factory is very impressive, with stone guards and a massive smokestack making an eerily oppressive workplace. The factory’s Villager workers are clearly put in unsafe conditions, though they apparently pay no mind to the cruel circumstances they find themselves facing. While Scary_Pressure1749 is outnumbered by their Villager employees, it seems that the simple mobs are uninterested in a revolt.
Minecraft is available on all platforms.
