The maker of Purple brand mattresses recently announced plans to establish a new factory near Atlanta.
Purple Innovation’s forthcoming facility, located in Henry County, Georgia, would be the company’s third U.S. plant and its first outside its native Utah.
Georgia officials said the $21 million project would lead to 360 new jobs; the company said hundreds would be created by the end of the year.
Purple said its first facility on the East Coast would bolster its manufacturing capabilities, expand its geographic reach, and help meet customer demand.
“During these challenging times, we feel especially proud that we are able to invest in significantly expanding our manufacturing and production capacity domestically, creating many new jobs in the process,” Purple CEO Joe Megibow said in a statement.
Purple, primarily known for mattresses ordered directly by consumers through its website, also produces cushions, pillows, and other materials. It partners with retailers and third-party online sellers.
