JOHOR BARU: A 39-year-old man was caught red-handed while trying to steal from a factory at Desa Idaman in Senai here.
Kulai OCPD Supt Tok Beng Yeow said the man was arrested while trying to dismantle metal components in the factory at about 2.00pm on Saturday (Jan 23).
“Following a tip-off, a group of police officers went to the factory in Senai and found that the factory’s door had been left open.
“They then found a group of men dismantling metal components in the factory. When the suspects noticed the police, they tried to flee the scene through the back door but our officers managed to arrest one of the men,” he said.
He said that the police also seized several items including four mobile phones, 43 metal components, a metal cutter, a generator, a chain lock, a van and two cars.
“A worker from the factory filed a police report at about 4.34pm on the same day about the break-in. He said that upon checking, he found that three units of air conditioners and a lorry were missing,” he said, adding that the estimated losses were about RM80,000.
Supt Tok added that based on investigations on the arrested suspect, three of his partners managed to fell.
“The suspect also tested positive for methamphetamine and has a criminal records with 12 previous drug and crime offences.
“He is being remanded for six days, starting from Sunday (Jan 24) to assist in the investigation,” he said, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 457 and Section 379A of the Penal Code.
