Changes to the New Zealand National Team

After 34 years with Mainfreight Craig Evans, has decided to retire. With Craig leaving the business we have seen a few changes to the New Zealand National Team.

New Zealand Country Manager – Carl George

Carl’s career with Mainfreight spans almost 27 years, during which he has held various sales, branch management and leadership roles, both here and overseas. For the last ten years, he has successfully led our Transport division in New Zealand.

Carl will continue to build on the platform the Craig has laid, bringing his passion for efficiency and quality, and with solid support from our team.

New Zealand Transport National Manager – Nic Kay

Nic began his Mainfreight journey almost 25 years ago with the Warehousing team in Christchurch working in various operational roles. He later moved across to Daily Freight Christchurch where he worked in Sales, moving into Sales Management, and eventually taking over as Branch Manager.

Nic and his family made the big move to Auckland nearly 11 years ago, when he took on the New Zealand Group Sales Manager role. Following on from this, he has spent the last six years leading the Air & Ocean business for New Zealand, where he and the team have made significant improvements in revenue and profits, really bringing some hustle to this business.

New Zealand Air and Ocean National Manager – Paul Riethmaier

Paul started his Mainfreight journey as a graduate with Owens International Freight Auckland in 2000, working in Sea Export Operations, then moving to sales a few years later as Export Trade Manager for the branch. An OE took Paul to the UK where he continued working in international freight, before returning to New Zealand and Mainfreight in 2006 as Airfreight Sales Manager.

He has progressed his career through a variety of Sales and Branch Management to his most recent role as the New Zealand National Airfreight Manager. These have been great stepping stone to his current role today as Air & Ocean National Manager.

We appreciate all that Craig has achieved for Mainfreight in his 34-year tenure. He leaves the business in a strong position, performing well across all three divisions. We hope you enjoy retirement and spending more time with the family.

Congratulations to Carl, Nic and Paul, we look forward to seeing what 2022 hold for the business in New Zealand.
