BAGUIO CITY– Mayor Benjamin Magalong is now working out the procurement of personal protective equipment (PPEs) for use of hospital workers at the forefront of the battle against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Magalong and City Administrator Bonifacio Dela Pena said the city has been swamped with requests for PPEs like face masks, gloves and others from public and private hospitals.

Magalong said that, particularly among private hospital management, the problem was not the funding for the purchase of the PPEs, but the sourcing for these essential equipment. As such, the private hospitals have come to him seeking his help in finding sources for the PPEs.
Magalong, said the city ordered 5500,000 masks, 300 forehead thermometers and 15,000 gowns and booties, but General Services Officer Eugene Buyucan admitted encountering difficulties in working out the purchases due to limited supply.
Last weekend, the city gave two boxes of face masks to the Triage and Radiology Office of the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center, and one box to St. Louis University Hospital of the Sacred Heart.
The Filipino-Chinese community donated today 2,500 pieces of masks making their total donation run up to 15,000 which were all given away to hospitals. ###
